To celebrate the spirit of ANZAC and New Zealand’s bond of brotherhood with Turkey, AFS Intercultural Programmes has partnered with RNZRSA to offer an award to a young New Zealander. This award will recognise their excellence in the preparation and delivery of both a presentation and essay, with the winner participating in ANZAC and Turkish commemorative services in Turkey in 2009.
This trip will be around 6 weeks long and will take place in March and April 2009
Entry for this award is in two parts: the first, a presentation detailing the connection between the entrant and a blood relative involved in the Gallipoli Campaign of the First World War and the research process used to determine this relationship; some history of the individuals’ legacy, and the influence this has had over the entrant.
This presentation can be in essay form, a speech, a family tree, even a short documentary. A bibliography listing the sources of your research must be attached.
The second part of the entry is a 1500 word essay. This essay should profile a veteran of the Gallipoli Campaign, detailing their legacy. The subject of this profile could be the relative researched for the presentation, or any other individual who contributed to the Gallipoli Campaign.
Both components of these entry requirements will be judged on historical accuracy, attention to detail and technical excellence.
