• In 2008 a partial scholarship to the value of $5,000 is offered to students who would like to go on a AFS exchange to a selection of countries.

• In 1947, Arthur Helm was one of the first two university students to go from New Zealand on an AFS exchange. On his return Arthur established the AFS high school programme and became involved in AFS NZ in numerous ways. He was appointed the first ‘Life Member’ of AFS NZ in 1968 to recognise his outstanding contribution.
